More 3rd year composers were cross examined.
Sean
The first composer had a piece that was inspired by his own contemplations on what hell would be like. It began with a choral introduction mixed with electronic sounds - giving it an eerie feeling - that surpassed the possibilities of a choir and added flavour that lifted the sonic quality of the timbre. A common theme used throughout the piece was the drawing out of the high frequencies and adding texture to them. About halfway through he added in a rhythmic element which made it sound like an epic militaristic video game soundtrack with a poignant juxtaposition.
Jen Wyatt
The composition played to us had the qualities of electricity biting and snapping. This was accompanied by piano, strings and rhythmically interesting percussion. Later we would find out these were sonic manipulations of sounds from field recordings. The level of manipulation was quite amazing - the sounds were impossible to reference.
Emma
She was trying out new sounds, software and improvisation all stemmed from her stream of consciousness. These were all recorded sounds which were uplifting although being quite randomized and containing interesting percussive sounds.
